Will Gothic 1 Remake Use Denuvo on PC?

Gothic 1 Remake is now close enough to launch that the usual PC questions are starting to matter more than trailers. The remake of Piranha Bytes’ cult RPG is set for June 5, 2026, with Alkimia Interactive rebuilding the Valley of the Mines for a new generation while trying to keep the old rough-edged Gothic identity intact.

For now, the answer on Denuvo is straightforward: Gothic 1 Remake does not currently show a Denuvo listing in the checked PC release data. There is no visible Denuvo Anti-Tamper notice, no third-party DRM warning naming Denuvo, and no matching Denuvo entry in the app information currently available for the game.

That does not automatically make the game permanently free of Denuvo. Publishers can still update PC release information before launch, and DRM details sometimes appear late in the pre-release cycle. What it does mean is that, as of the current public PC listing, Gothic 1 Remake is not being presented as a Denuvo-protected release.

The question matters because Gothic is the kind of game many PC players expect to keep installed, replay, mod, and revisit years later. Denuvo discussions are not only about raw performance. They also touch offline access, long-term preservation, ownership concerns, and how transparent publishers are about DRM protections before release. None of that means Denuvo always causes issues, but its presence is enough to change how some players approach a day-one purchase.

For THQ Nordic, the cleaner outcome would be simple clarity. Gothic 1 Remake is already carrying pressure from fans who know the original well and will judge the remake on atmosphere, combat, exploration, and how much of the old world survives the modernization. A late DRM surprise would add another argument to a launch that should probably be focused on whether the remake actually captures Gothic’s strange, hostile charm.

Right now, there is no current Denuvo listing attached to Gothic 1 Remake on PC. Until the publisher says more or the game’s release data changes, the safest wording is not “Denuvo-free,” but “Denuvo not currently listed.”
