Planet Zoo 2 is already shaping up as one of Frontier’s biggest PC releases for 2026. The sequel expands the zoo management formula with aquatic species, flying birds, Wildlife Reserves, new building tools, cross-platform workshop support, and a larger conservation angle built around releasing animals into broader ecosystems.
Now the PC version has another detail attached to the launch: Denuvo.
Planet Zoo 2 is currently listed with Denuvo Anti-Tamper on PC. That means Frontier’s next zoo sim is being prepared as a Denuvo-protected release ahead of its October 13, 2026 launch.
Denuvo joins the PC launch details
The Denuvo notice arrives while the rest of the PC picture is also becoming clearer. Planet Zoo 2 is already available for pre-purchase, with a Deluxe Edition, bonus content, Steam Cloud support, Family Sharing, HDR support, and full system requirements listed.
For a management sim, Denuvo tends to land differently than it does for a short action game. Planet Zoo 2 is built to be played for a long time. Players will spend hours shaping habitats, adjusting guest flow, managing animal needs, expanding parks, using workshop content, and returning to older zoos after updates or DLC. That makes offline access, long-term ownership, and post-launch DRM decisions more noticeable.
This does not mean the game will run poorly. Denuvo alone does not decide whether a PC version is well optimized. The real test will be how Planet Zoo 2 handles large parks, dense animal populations, water systems, flying species, guest simulation, pathing, workshop assets, and late-game performance.
Planet Zoo 2 PC requirements
The minimum specs are not light, but they make sense for a modern simulation game with detailed animals and complex park systems.
Component | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
OS | Windows 11 | Windows 11 |
Processor | Intel i7-8700K / AMD Ryzen 5 3600 | Intel i7-10700K / AMD Ryzen 7 5800X |
Memory | 16 GB RAM | 16 GB RAM |
Graphics | NVIDIA RTX 2060 6 GB / AMD RX 5600 XT 6 GB / Intel Arc A750 8 GB | NVIDIA RTX 3070 8 GB / AMD RX 6700 XT 12 GB / Intel Arc A770 16 GB |
DirectX | Version 12 | Version 12 |
Storage | 40 GB available space | 40 GB available space |
Those requirements suggest Planet Zoo 2 will be more demanding than the original, especially on the GPU side. The recommended target points toward a proper mid-range modern PC rather than an older entry-level build.
For now, the status is clear: Planet Zoo 2 is currently listed with Denuvo on PC, and its system requirements are already public. The next thing to watch is how the final build performs once players start building large zoos and pushing Frontier’s new simulation systems at launch.
