Sony is raising the price of PlayStation Plus Essential for new subscribers, with the change kicking in on May 20, 2026. The update arrives via PlayStation’s official channels and affects the monthly and three‑month options in multiple regions.
What’s changing and where
For newcomers, PlayStation Plus Essential will start at $10.99 in the United States, €9.99 in the Eurozone, and £7.99 in the UK for the 1‑month plan. The 3‑month option moves to $27.99, €27.99, and £21.99, respectively. That’s an increase of $1/£1 for the monthly plan and $3/£3 for the three‑month tier compared to previous pricing, according to a detailed report at VGC.
Sony says the change applies to new customers and won’t hit existing members unless their subscription changes or lapses. Turkey and India are exceptions where current subscribers are included in the adjustment due to local conditions. The company framed the move as a response to “ongoing market conditions” in PlayStation’s post on X.
